when did uprisings become riots?

what does it mean to be
to be human, not apex
predators
to be liberated

we studied the word.
my brothers laughed
as I said bleastplate
instead of breastplate.
but it wasn’t at me
but with me
as they could all relate.
self help books and diets
but where is our own healing
just cause we build machines
does not mean we are meant to be
machines

I wrote this in October of 2021. Whilst attending an inter-generational conversation, we were told to write a free verse. It felt good. Being able to just put to screen. Read this out loud when you have the opportunity.
